Players Withdrawing from Tournament:
To formally WD from the tournament, players must contact the Tournament Director via phone or email. Failing to do so and “No Showing” will result in loss of tournament privileges in future years and a label of “NS” in our media information. Players who WD prior to on or before June 10th receive tournament fees less $50 administration costs. Players who WD after June 10th do not receive a refund of tournament fees.
Tournament registration will begin on Monday (June 19th) from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm and continue Tuesday (June 20th) from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Registration will be upstairs in the on the first floor of the Snee Farm Country Club clubhouse. Also, please note that players must register during these times. Penalty for failing to register during prescribed times will result in disqualification from the tournament.
Practice round starting times are available on Monday, June 19th after 11:00 am and Tuesday, June 20th after 2:00 pm. Players are reminded that only one ball may be played from the teeing grounds during practice rounds, and players must play from the markers as they are found on the course.
Daily tournament starting times will be posted online at thericeplanters.com and at the Snee Farm Golf Shop. The Golf Shop will remain open until 7:00 p.m. for starting time information and can be reached at (843) 884-2600.
The format is 72 holes of stroke play. The field will be cut to the low 54 and ties after Round 3. Rounds 1 – 4 will begin at 8 am off the 1st tee in threesomes and with 11 minute intervals. The field will be reduced to the Low 54 and ties after Round 3. The trophy presentation will be at approximately 3:00 pm at the scoreboard area. The low 20 and ties will be exempt for the 2018 Rice Planters Amateur.
Gift certificates will be awarded to the top 10 finishers. Top 20 finishers and ties receive an exemption into the 2018 Rice Planters Amateur Tournament. The champion’s name will be engraved on the R.P. Horne perpetual trophy.
Proper golf attire will be required. All players must have a shirt with a collar, and if shorts are worn they should be of bermuda length. Cargo shorts are not allowed. Shirt tails must remain tucked in at all times and hats are to be worn properly.
The driving range and short game practice areas will open one hour prior to the first starting time. The driving range will close promptly at 7 pm during the practice round and tournament rounds.
The Clubhouse Grill will be open for participants and their families to use on a cash or credit card basis.
Lunch will be served daily to all contestants before or after their competitive rounds. Lunch service begins at 11.30 am and is served through 6.30 pm. Please note that no food will be available after 6:30 pm so it is suggested that players competing later in the day’s draw eat prior to competing. Your contestant badge serves as your meal ticket. Therefore, please have it on you at all times during the tournament. Caddies will receive lunch tickets.
During this event, there will be NO public address system used to call players to the tee. All players are advised and responsible to check-in with the starter at their assigned tee (ready to play) at least 10 minutes prior to tee time.
Unbecoming conduct is, but not limited to: profanity, throwing equipment in anger, destruction of club property, vulgar or physical abuse to any person. A player who is in violation may receive one warning from a specified official. A second violation will result in disqualification of the player.
Pace of Play
The Rice Planters Amateur Pace of Play Policy is in effect and will be strictly enforced during the event.
Snee-Am Sponsor Tournament – June 20th
The Snee-Am is an opportunity to thank our sponsors, hosts, and 2017 Rice Planters’ Tournament Committee. You will be notified in a separate email if you have been invited to play. Approximately 24 spots for Rice Planters’ players are available in this field. The Snee-Am begins with check-in and range warm-up between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. Players are expected to be in their golf carts and ready to play by 8:45 am. Lunch and prizes will follow play at approximately 1:30 pm. The format will be a Shamble where all players hit their tee shots, the best shot is selected, and then each player plays his/her own ball into the hole. It is expected that you will participate if invited to compete in the Snee-Am.
College Game Day 3rd Round
The 2017 Rice Planters Committee has again deemed the 3rd round as College Game Day! We request that all players wear their college colors. Support your school and show-off your college pride!
Caddies & Carts
Caddies are welcome. Caddie bibs must be worn during competition and will be provided at the 1st tee each day. Caddies will be provided a lunch ticket upon returning their bibs to the official scoring area.
Electronic Measuring Devices are permissible during competitive rounds.
Push carts are also permitted, however, please note that Snee Farm Country Club has very limited supply. All competitors must walk during competitive rounds and golf bags may not be on electric carts at any time. Only Rules Officials have the authority to offer transportation during competitive rounds.
It is a condition of competition at Snee Farm Country Club that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited. If you wish to play in this event, you must waive any claim for injuries, which might be attributable to the use of spikeless shoes. If you are unwilling to assume the risk, DO NOT ENTER THIS EVENT.
Private housing information will be released in early June. We have limited spots available so only those who selected “Yes” to housing request will be considered. If you have questions regarding player housing please contact our Housing Coordinator, Christine Barth (email@example.com).
If you select to stay in a hotel for the week of the tournament please consider using our host hotel – Homewood Suites IOP Connector (1998 Riviera Dr, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 – 843.881.6950). The hotel is about 5 minutes from Snee Farm Country Club and is the closest hotel to the golf course. It is 10 minutes to Isles of Palms and the beaches. Close by are the Shoppes at Seaside Farms which include a Target, a selection of shops, and several restaurants.
