Players Withdrawing from Tournament:
To formally WD from the tournament, players must contact the Tournament Director via email (golf@thericeplanters.com). Failing to do so and “No Showing” will result in loss of tournament privileges in future years and a label of “NS” in our media information. Players who WD on or before June 6th receive tournament fees less $50 administration costs. Players who WD on June 7th or after do not receive a refund of tournament fees.

Player registration
Please complete your tournament registration by checking in with our tournament volunteers at player registration PRIOR to the tournament starting. It is mandatory to complete this process on the dates/times listed below:

  • June 17 – 11am to 3pm
  • June 18 – 3pm to 7pm

Practice rounds
Practice round starting times are available Monday and Tuesday of tournament week. Please call after June 12th to schedule.  Players are reminded that only one ball may be played from the teeing grounds during practice rounds, and players must play from the markers as they are found on the course.

Starting Times
Daily tournament starting times will be posted online at thericeplanters.com and at the Snee Farm Golf Shop. The Golf Shop will remain open until 7:00 p.m. for starting time information and can be reached at (843) 884-2600.

Format
The format is 54 holes of stroke play. The trophy presentation will be at approximately 5:00 pm. The low 20 and ties will be exempt for the following year’s Rice Planters Amateur.

Prizes
Gift certificates will be awarded to the top 10 finishers. Top 20 finishers and ties receive an exemption into the following year’s Rice Planters Amateur Tournament. The champion’s name will be engraved on the R.P. Horne perpetual trophy.

Dress Code
Proper golf attire will be required. All players must have a shirt with a collar, and if shorts are worn they should be of Bermuda length. Cargo shorts are not allowed. Shirt tails must remain tucked in at all times and hats are to be worn properly.

Practice Areas
The driving range and short game practice areas will open one hour prior to the first starting time. 

Club Amenities
The Clubhouse Grill will be open for participants and their families to use on a cash or credit card basis.

Lunch
Lunch will be served daily to all contestants after their competitive rounds. 

Announcement
During this event, there will be NO public address system used to call players to the tee. All players are advised and responsible to check-in with the starter at their assigned tee (ready to play) at least 10 minutes prior to tee time.

Unbecoming Conduct
Unbecoming conduct is, but not limited to: profanity, throwing equipment in anger, destruction of club property, vulgar or physical abuse to any person. A player who is in violation may receive one warning from a specified official. A second violation will result in disqualification of the player.

Pace of Play
The Rice Planters Amateur Pace of Play Policy is in effect and will be strictly enforced during the event.  Pace of Play Info.

College Game Day 1st Round
The Rice Planters Committee has again deemed the 1st round as College Game Day! We request that all players wear their college colors. Support your school and show-off your college pride!

Caddies & Carts

Caddies are permitted.

Electronic Measuring Devices are permissible during competitive rounds.

Push carts are also permitted, however, please note that Snee Farm Country Club has a very limited supply. All competitors must walk during competitive rounds and golf bags may not be on electric carts at any time. Only Rules Officials have the authority to offer transportation during competitive rounds.

Spectators must remain on cart paths (or where no cart path exists in the rough area a minimum of 30 yards from competitors) at all times. It is the responsibility of the player to police his family/friends spectating during the event. Rules Officials will be closely monitoring this and can assess penalties to players if issues arise.

Footwear
It is a condition of competition at Snee Farm Country Club that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited. If you wish to play in this event, you must waive any claim for injuries, which might be attributable to the use of spikeless shoes. If you are unwilling to assume the risk, DO NOT ENTER THIS EVENT.

Lodging
Player housing may be available during tournament week. Please indicate on your application if you need accommodations and the Tournament Housing Coordinator will contact you if space is available. Priority will be given to players coming from furthest distance.

Official Hotel
Please use Comfort Suites at Isle of Palms Connector for your hotel needs. It is located about five minutes drive from Snee Farm CC. Call the front desk directly and introduce yourself as a Rice Planters contestant. A small block of rooms has been reserved June 19-23 at a reduced rate of $159 per night plus taxes. Wednesday – June 19: Round 1 begins 7.30 am
Thursday – June 20: Round 2 begins 7.30 am
Friday – June 21: Round 3 begins 7.30 am; Trophy presentation 5.00 pm
